Concours-Tunisie_logoThe Tunisian Contest of Local Products is a national event, mediatized and intended for the general public, bringing together consumers, producers and experts around local products.

The contest is designed, organized and conducted with and for consumers.
It is open to all producers of local products: farmers, individual producers, SMSA, GDA, processing companies, etc.
Producer means any natural or legal person having the right to market agri-food and agricultural products.

Committee

The Competition is organized by the Agricultural Investment Promotion Agency (Agence de Promotion des Investissements Agricoles - APIA) in partnership with the Ministry of Higher Education (Cité des Sciences de Tunis ), Ministry of Agriculture, Hydraulic Resources and Fisheries (DGPA, DGAB), Ministry of Industry and SMEs (DGIA, CTAA, INNORPI) with the support of the Market Access Project for Agri-Food and Terroir Products implemented by UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization) and financed by SECO (State Secretariat for Economic Affairs of the Swiss Confederation).

Jury

The purpose of the tasting is to find a balance between sensory tasting (provided by the expert members of the jury) and the taste of the consumer and producers (market demand). Each product in competition is tasted at the tasting table through sensory schemes. Each jury table is composed of 3 jurors, composed as follows:

  • 1 specialist in the product and its tasting
  • 1 consumer
  • 1 producer (who does not taste his product)

The tasting procedure is identical for each category. It is described in the tasting protocol (using the senses of sight, smell, taste and the general appearance of the product).

Tastings are carried out anonymously. Each product receives a code and will be presented to the juries without them being able to recognize the brand or producer,

Samples are scored on a 20 point scale, according to criteria established by the jury presidents and specific to each product category.
